Overview

Rebeca Martínez Sicari is a Senior Attorney in the Commercial Litigation Department, licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. Her practice focuses on mass tort, environmental, and public health litigation, with substantial experience in class action and antitrust matters, as well as in representing governmental entities across the United States.

Rebeca earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Health Law from Georgetown University Law Center, where she conducted research with the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law on strengthening legal frameworks to address pressing public health challenges.

She served as counsel in the lead contamination litigation against Gopher Resource in Tampa, Florida, representing former and current employees, their families, and nearby residents harmed by the facility’s toxic lead emissions. She has also advanced claims on behalf of communities impacted by corporate misconduct and unsafe environmental practices, combining her litigation work with a strong commitment to public health and justice.

Her broader litigation experience includes employment discrimination and civil rights matters, where she has witnessed firsthand the profound impact these cases have on individuals and communities. She has also represented clients in numerous complex litigation matters, including nationwide class and collective actions. Her recent cases include In re National Prescription Opiate Litigation, No. 1:17-md-02804 (N.D. Ohio); Ya Mon Expeditions, LLC v. International Yacht Brokers Association, Inc. et al., No. 1:24-cv-20805-KMM (S.D. Fla.); CB, by and through his parents and natural guardians, Koungnum Brown and Tomika Brown v. Gopher Resource, LLC, No. 21-CA-004494 (Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Hillsborough County, Florida); and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission v. Asphalt Paving System, Inc., No. 8:23-cv-02169 (M.D. Fla.).

Beyond her litigation practice, Rebeca has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Inter American University School of Law, where she mentors future attorneys and contributes to legal scholarship.

$650 Million Ruling in National Pharmacy Chain Opioid Trial
U.S. District Court for Northern Ohio Judge Dan Aaron Polster ruled that CVS, Walgreens and Walmart must pay over $650 million over 15 years and set up an abatement program to Lake and Trumbull counties. The ruling is the first by a federal judge that assigns a monetary amount against pharmacy chains for their role in the opioid epidemic.
The funds will be used in programs to address the fallout from opioid abuse the defendant’s marketing of opioids caused.

Jury Verdict in National Opioid Trial
This jury verdict was secured on behalf of our clients Lake and Trumbull Counties (OH) against pharmacy giants CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart.

$1.1 Billion Settlement: New York Opioid Jury Trial
This settlement was reached with the three largest drug distributors, AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health and McKesson, in the first opioid jury trial.

This landmark settlement was reached on behalf of Cuyahoga County (OH), one of the bellwether plaintiffs in the National Opioid Litigation, against four of the key players responsible for the opioid epidemic.
